Trinity House extended

20/06/05

Tricord's facilty at Trinity House has recently been extended and now boasts increased production area and pallet storage.

Commenting on the extension Noel Gordon, Director, praised the staff for their understanding during the building programme and said that the new facilities in Lisburn will allow us to increase the range of services we offer our clients.

Lisburn-based Tricord offers a range of response management and fulfilment services to clients in Britain and Ireland. It has a modern purpose built warehouse on the outskirts of Lisburn where it employs 13 staff.

In order to attract and retain staff as well as offer an out of hours service, and allow the directors to spend more time selling, it needed a robust remote access solution. It also required an up-to-date IT infrastructure that would need less support from staff that had other duties to attend to.

In addition to its mail order fulfilment business, it also operates a small call centre for clients. The location of the business means that it finds it difficult to get staff for this kind of work.

It was also hampered in offering a telephone answering service out of hours. Tricord felt that if it had a remote access facility whereby staff could access the office network from home, calls could then be routed to their homes.

The two directors of Tricord, John Rodgers and Noel Gordon both live some distance from the company’s office and they wanted the option of being able to work from home.

To help grow the business, Rodgers intends to spend more time on the road selling to new prospects. Rodgers uses a PDA and wanted to be able to have access to his company e mail account while travelling.

Small Business Server 2003 was installed over a weekend in early October 2003 to ensure minimal disruption to the business. The implementation coincided with a major upgrade of the network hardware and it was felt Small Business Server 2003 would enable the company to get the most of its improved network.

Tricord now has a secure remote access infrastructure so that management and staff have the flexibility of working from home, while having access to the same applications and information that they would have in the office.

The ability to offer an out of business hours phone answering service, with staff answering calls from their home office, means Tricord can compete against larger competitors with dedicated call centre operations.
